History of Our School and Church
The Christian Day School of Resurrection Lutheran Church opened its doors for
the first time in September of 1952. We give thanks to God for being with us through the years and pray that His presence
and blessing will continue to be with us.
The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod has enjoyed a long
and distinguished ministry to God’s people through a variety of agencies in Christian Education. It is generally acknowledged
that the Lutheran Elementary School is the most effective agency for children of the parish community. It is unique in that
full-time Christian Education is offered by the local parish. Christian teaching is a day-to-day ministry to children,
parents and others. Such Christian Education builds a solid Bible-based foundation for the future leaders of the Church, community
and nation.
God has charged the Church
to educate its members and to equip them for work in His ministry: Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Matthew 28:19-20, Ephesians 4:12. Thus
every member of the church has a responsibility in Christian Education. The educational agencies are operated by the
local ministries and all members discharge their individual responsibilities.
Resurrection Lutheran School started with
a first grade class and eventually expanded to include the eighth grade. When Luther High School South began accepting seventh
and eighth grade students, a decision was made to realign our grades to include pre-kindergarten through sixth graders only.
Throughout our years, we have had some excellent principals and teachers including Mrs. Pearline Jones, Mrs. Essie Fair and
Mrs. Catherine Clark. We are thankful to God that we can offer a Christian, God-fearing academic program to our students.
Our goal is to establish a foundation of Christian and academic excellence from which
the students will always be able to draw. To that end, we ask for your assistance to please pray that God continues to bless
us to gain the knowledge of His wonderful grace and power!
